Sport Fish Restoration

Students observe and learn how runoff  impact us by using a watershed model.    Maps in the Fishes of Alabama book provide a great reference for biologists and for the public.
Students are taught that fishing is a great way to learn more about the aquatic environment.          Is that a dam? Biologist Moss explains the importance of fish passage within a watershed.
Look a mussel! Collecting and viewing aquatic wildlife is a highlight of the Creek Kid Program. Although small, this aquatic snail plays a major role in our environment.
Another opportunity to collect more critters.   Students gather around to view a freshly  caught blackspotted topminnow?
Common fish that are collected by students who visit the park can be seen by clicking here. Students are encouraged to learn more about fishing by reading, "The Basic Fishing Handbook".
