48. Perdido River-Longleaf Hills Tract

Location: Baldwin County; Township 2S, Range 4E, portions of Section 24, 25, 26, 31, 36; Township 3S, Range 5E, portions of Sections 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15
Acreage: 2,310
The tract is comprised of 60% forested wetland habitats supporting an Atlantic white-cedar community within a unique blackwater stream corridor, which is bordered by an upland pine-sandhill forest favoring a longleaf pine community. In partnership with the Alabama Forestry Commission and the Forever Wild Program, an additional 1,678 acres of similar forest habitat were acquired by the State Lands Division through a $1.9 Million U.S. Forest Service Forest Legacy grant.
